 Scotty P's is a family owned
and operated restaurant. We are proud to display the history of the communities
we work in. Our family has a rich family restaurant history as well.

In 1935,
in a small suburb of Chicago a young man by the name of Michael Pontikes went
to work in a tavern owned by his father. While this fact is not all that
remarkable, when you realize Michael was all of 6 years old, you just might be
amazed.
 Michael was helping his dad run
one of two family businesses during the depression. Times being what they were
everyone, even Lil' Mikey, had to work, and he did an admirable job, working
behind the counter at his dad's tavern. That is, until the day Scotty, the
neighborhood police officer, came into the Pontikes' establishment and saw
Michael working in the bar. Surprised to say the least, Scotty reluctantly
informed Michael and Christos (Mike's Dad) that Michael could no longer work in
his father's business. Still needing the extra few dollars a week, Michael went
to work for Gruenwald's Bakery, and it was there he learned some of his best
baking secrets...in fact he's still using them today.
 It was here that Michael also
learned of his love for the restaurant business, a business that has served him
well for over 64 years. He eventually returned to his father's businesses and
took over the management of both "The Tavern" and "The Drive-In". It was here
that Michael met Bettina, his bride and mother of their three sons. Michael
continued his career in the restaurant field, which took him and his family
across the country. It was in 1981 that his youngest son, Scotty, told his
father of his dream. "Someday I'm going to own a business with my
family...someday."
 After Scotty graduated from
college, as did all the Pontikes Brothers, with a degree in Hotel Restaurant
Administration from the University of Houston, he continued on his quest. With
the help of his father and the entire Pontikes family, that dream has come
true. Scotty P's Hamburgers is the culmination of a life long dream. A dream
that started in the 20's and has become reality some 70 years later.
 The combination of Michael's
"old world" restaurant tradition and recipes and Scotty's modern knowledge of
restaurant management, food preparation, customer service and sanitation
standards makes Scotty P's truly a unique operation. History is an important
part of the lives of the founders of this restaurant and so it seemed
appropriate that they not only provide great food, service and cleanliness, but
that there be a touch of history in this eatery too.
